From time to time, Natures Magick has also been involved in holding various Lectures, Workshops, Open gatherings and Sabbats, Camps and Retreats. 2010 will see us branching out to incorporate holding a few of these each year.

Details : |
Come along and celebrate Samhain at our open gathering. Bring an item to place on the altar representing your ancestors or a loved one that has passed. Traditional lore throughout the evening such as apple bobbing, various forms of divination being practised and a fantastic feast consisting of spit roasted meats and vegetables. Attendees are asked to bring vegetables and nibbles from our pre-organised menu to contribute to the table. Information will be supplied upon booking.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be film camera's on site throughout the evening, filming for "How the Other Half Live" on NZ TV.

A wonderful night in honour of the ancient Greek Goddess, Hekate. Held annually since 2002 on 13th August (one of her feast nights) or the nearest Saturday to, this has proved to be a very popular event! A night consisting of all things Greek!!

Join us for the following .......
~ Greek Banquet - a pre-set menu with attendees
bringing ingredients to the table to create the dishes! We prep
and begin cooking early afternoon
~ Altar building - we create a large and impressive
altar in her name! Attendees bring an item of relavance to place
upon the altar
~ Clothing - Bring Greek costumes or Robes/Cloaks
for the ceremony and related offerings laid later that evening.
Street cloths are worn until the ceremony - make sure you are warm
in anticipation of holding the rites outdoors - weather pending
of course!
~ Bonfire - Weather permitting.
~ The Running Maiden - A short talk
by Tracey Royce from Natures Magick. The most popular
conceptions of Hekate around today come from the Roman's due to
their absorbtion of this ancient Greek Goddess into their own culture.
But who was she, how was she worshipped, and what do we know of
her prior to this time? This lecture will look at the distinct differences
of how she was viewed by both cultures with an emphasis primarily
on the little known Greek facts regarding her attributes and worship.
Tracey has studied and worked personally with this Goddess for over
a decade and welcomes the opportunity to share the findings of her
work and research.
~ The Ceremony - Naturally, a Greek one! English translations will be given later if required. The ceremony consists of the invocation of the 4 winds, recital of Hymns to Hekate and the re-enactment of the kleidos pompe as well as related offerings.
