After completing his Honours
in Education (1999), Neil taught in London, England for 3
years where he fell in love with the drum and all things percussive.
There he studied African drumming with numerous West African
teachers. He returned to South Africa to complete his Masters
in Music Therapy (2005).
Following his studies he worked with various groups and individuals
of all ages suffering from a range of physical, mental and
emotional disabilities.
During this time he also worked extensively with rhythm and
percussion in corporate and educational environments, promoting
the medium of drumming and percussion to raise employees and
students potentials.
He was a member of an 11 piece African drumming and percussion
ensemble called Sekiedenz for 4 years as well as being part
of a percussion duo called Komodo for 2 years who performed
primarily with 'Hangs'.
Neil has recently immigrated to New Zealand with his wife
Susan. He currently works at a special needs school in Pukekohe
as a registered Music Therapist and teacher. Neil is passionate
about spreading the global language of music and rhythm when
ever and where ever he can!
